#GlobalGateway is a project by the Seattle Historic Waterfront Association with support from the Port of Seattle.  #GlobalGateway is dedicated to promoting events with an international flavor in the Puget Sound region. Our website features a comprehensive calendar of events, highlighting a broad selection of diverse and vibrant international cultural activities locally.

Who Should Apply?

This internship is ideal for students who are:

  • Interested in International Culture: Enthusiastic about international events and cultures and want to promote these to a wider audience.
  • Majoring in Media Studies: Looking to gain practical experience in digital content creation and media promotion.
  • Majoring in Business or Marketing: Interested in developing skills in digital marketing, event promotion, and strategic communications.
  • Majoring in Literature or Writing: Eager to apply their research and writing skills to create compelling event descriptions.
  • Majoring in Arts and Humanities: Passionate about cultural events and seeking experience in event curation and community engagement.
  • Majoring in International Relations: Wanting to explore global cultures and contribute to international-themed events.
  • Majoring in Communications or Public Relations: Aiming to enhance their communication skills and gain experience in public outreach.
  • Majoring in Sociology or Anthropology: Interested in understanding and promoting diverse cultural practices and events.

Customize Your Internship

Customize your internship by choosing one of the following commitment levels.  You can increase your commitment anytime during your internship, but you cannot decrease it.

1 Month / 30 Events

  • $100 Reward:
    • $25 gift card to Ivar’s after submitting 15 approved events;
    • $75 gift card to Ivar’s after submitting 30 approved events.

  • Career Benefit:
    • Certificate of Completion to use in your job search and with potential employers.


2 Months / 30 Events per Month (60 Total)

  • $275 Reward:
    • $50 stipend after submitting 15 approved events;
    • Additional $50 stipend after submitting 30 approved events;
    • Another $75 stipend after submitting 60 approved events;
    • Bonus: $100 Seattle waterfront gift card;
    • Total: $175 cash stipend + $100 gift card.

  • Career Benefits:
    • Certificate of Completion to use in your job search and with potential employers;
    • Personalized Letter of Reference to use in your job search and with potential employers.

3 Months / 25 Events per Month (75 Total)

  • $350 Reward:
    • $50 stipend after submitting 15 approved events;
    • Additional $75 stipend after submitting 30 approved events;
    • Another $100 stipend after submitting 75 approved events;
    • Bonus: $125 Seattle waterfront gift card;
    • Total: $225 cash stipend + $125 gift card.

  2. Post Sample Event.  Follow the instructions in the Event Submission Guide (Google Doc). 
  3. Submit Application Form.  
  4. Interview and Begin Internship: Selected candidates will receive an email inviting them for a brief phone call during which they can ask questions and expect an offer to begin their internship.
